Restaurants in Vason

In a small ski village such as Vason, I found it best to stick to comfort food, and specifically, the regional classics such as goulash. There are casual bars where you can grab a quick bite, and many establishments for pizza in the area. Personally, I would save pizza (and save my calories) for the regions that do it best, namely, Campania and Lazio. That said, if you are spending long days on the slopes, I know that pizza is a popular carb rich choice for refueling, hence the ubiquity!

This casual and cozy restaurant had some of the best reviews in the area. They do serve pizza, as suggested by the full name, but we found the traditional dishes to be fresh and delicious; it felt like eating a home-cooked meal (in Austria or Germany!) We quaffed some delicious weiss beer and had our fill out sauerkraut. This restaurant will probably not make the Michelin recommended list any time soon, but it is a solid choice if you are in the area. It is located right across the street from the ski area with a chair lift.

Primo/Secondo- They offer ‘piatti unici’ (single plates); go for the daily specials (they might have Polenta with mushroom or Canederli (regional bread dumplings)

This restaurant at our hotel is honestly the best in the area, so we were very happy to eat here during our stay. The offer an abundant continental breakfast buffet with fresh local products, but the dinner is stand out. Every night the offerings change, but be sure to try the  homemade strangolapreti pastas, one of the house specialties. They offer dessert every night, so this is a good place to try the famed Apple Strudel at the end of your meal. The dining room has nice views and the staff are particularly kind and attentive.
